The things people do at night probably varies so much, but at some time in the night, even if it is only for a short time, many people would enter quiet night pondering.
This is when thoughts take over and your time is spent thinking about whatever your mind thinks about and it is probably the hardest time of the whole 24-hour period, when you are unable to control the thought and prevent it from taking hold. Being aware of this weakness is probably a good start and also reminding yourself that it is just night-time pondering and nothing to take too serious, might help.
So many things happen in a day and it is funny why our mind takes hold of some things over others. This choice goes back into our past and regions that are quite difficult to understand. The best way to look at is accept that whatever happened, happened and appreciate that because you are pondering it – because this means that there is room for change and improvement. If your weren’t pondering, whatever it is that you are pondering, then you would accept it as normal and limited or no change would take place.
People would love to know why they think what they think, but this is like fully being able to understand the complexities of the mind, and that is something we will never grasp. However, we do know that we spend 10% of our time in the conscious, 90% in the subconscious/unconscious mind. The conscious mind communicates to the inner self and the outside world through speech, thought, pictures, writing, physical movement. The conscious mind is in charge of our recent memories, and is in continuous contact with the unconscious mind’s resources. The unconscious mind is the storehouse of all memories and past experiences and these memories and experiences former beliefs, habits, and behaviours.
So, when you spend time pondering at night, you are not really present, so remember that and this may also help with unwanted thoughts.
