Ask a young mother what she does when she is feeling tired and I think even the question might be overwhelming. However, when we are tired and exhausted we have to look after ourselves and be sensible when making decisions of what to do and when.
I remember when my daughter was young and I think at times I planned to achieve too much and everything became too stressed and hard. I think it is important to think of the kid’s age and while you want to do things with them that are exciting, sometimes just staying at home is exciting for kids.
Going to the shops for a short while might be okay, but long periods can be irritating. Finding balance is crucial because Mums and Dads need adult time too and how do we please everyone? Well, I think it is about slowing down and looking at things from other people’s perspectives.
Drawing up a schedule to make sure there is balance might help and saying no to invites sometimes. Going out all of the time can be hard because people want to dress a certain way and it is expensive to be out and about and if we are tired, our home is the best place to be. We also can still achieve things at home even if we are tired and the little things we get done might even make us feel better.
Some things to do at home when you are tired:
1. Get the dishes done (this will make you feel better if the kitchen is clean).
2. Get dressed and feel nice.
3. Make some nice food for you and the kids and do some activities like outside time or craft or cooking.
