Sleeping and kids can be one of the hardest hurdles parents will face – yes even worse than the devious boyfriend or body piercing discussion!
It would be great if as new parents (for the first five years) we didn’t actually need any sleep and we could get our kids sleep patterns sorted to perfection! Oh just the thought is exciting to me and I don’t have a child under 10 anymore, but even the memories are still difficult at times.
Five things (yes only five) that helped me when I was sleep deprived and my daughter was learning the art and control of sleeping!
1. A baby safe pillow at 6 months – I remember the moment – bliss
2. Not going in immediately at the first cry – NEVER DO THAT
3. Yes a pacifier!
4. Routines, routines, routines.
5. Giving myself and my partner a pat on the back.
