Who tells their daughter that their Daddy now works in the sky and arranges the clouds? A Mum who doesn’t want to tell her 3-year-old that Daddy isn’t ever coming home.
Janette Desi’s husband, Austin, 35, from Clontarf, north of Brisbane, died on Sunday morning after a freak accident at Mt Archer near Kilcoy.
Mr Desi, who was a frequent paraglider, died after an apparent equipment malfunction.
Ms Desi, who is 40 weeks pregnant, said her husband had gone for one last flight before the birth of their new baby.
She said she had not yet worked out how to tell their 3-year-old daughter, Evelyn, 3.
“He used to kiss her goodnight every night and she was waiting last night for him to come in and kiss her,” she told The Courier-Mail.
“We said (to her) he’s got a new job and he puts all the clouds in the sky and sometimes they’re smooth and sometimes they’re bubbles.
Mr Desi also has a 12-year-old son from a previous relationship.
A memorial service is expected to be held next week at the Gayundah Coastal Arboretum at Woody Point.
An appeal for the family had raised just short of $14,000. Anyone who would like to donate can visit mycause.com.au/page/126802/support-for-janette-and-the-kids
