The ‘Smartress’ was designed by Spanish mattress maker Durmet and the hi-tech bed features a Lover Detection System with 24 ultrasonic sensors. The scary part for some, is the sensors create a 3D map of the mattress to show where there is greater pressure and what movement is taking place in real time and it then informs the owner via a mobile phone app.
Durmet spokesman Jose Antonio Muinos said on the outside the mattress looks like any other and is very comfortable.
“It is a concept that will bring peace of mind to men and women, not just during the night but also during the day while they are out at work and when the bed should not really be being used.”
Will it really bring piece of mind because it is a question of trust and if that isn’t automatically there (and obviously it isn’t if you have to secretly order a special mattress) – piece of mind will not follow. I think it would be better to just tell your partner how you would feel if they cheated and ask them if they are and if you are living with the thought they are, but they swear they are not, maybe you need to question your thinking. If you have enough real evidence, even though they deny it – make a choice to do something real for yourself, like leaving them because buying a mattress means you are doing something that is untrustworthy too!
I guess it is a good way of catching your bed being used inappropriately by other members of the household though!
